Grown Up Chocolate Company:
Personalized Chocolate
The goal for this project was to create packaging for their customizable chocolate range.
Using the company’s brand values as a not so serious “adult” chocolate company, I decided to use paint splatters as a playful medium. This method was also inspired by Jackson Pollock’s paint dripping technique, which adults are familiar with, but is still fun and youthful with vibrant colors.
The concept is to use a generative design approach. Basically each package’s colors and splatter outcome are based on an algorithm, in which every flavor is assigned a color and random pattern. The gradients of the individual chocolate bars indicate the chosen colors of each bar.
While the outer packaging is inspired by the a colorful yet sophisticated polloc, the individual bards are simpler, using the chosen colours (via flavors) into a soft gradient.
The GUCC’s humour can be seen in the details, like the message displayed once opening the package.
PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL
Inspired by the Rorschach inkblot tests, the promo materials use a playful twist on words as well as puns to turn colorful inkblots into “psychologically personal” visual representations of the chocolate.
